Travel
To the Polurrian Hotel
The distance in miles, by car, to The Polurrian from selected metropolitan areas is approximately: Birmingham 285, Bristol 195, Exeter 120, London 310. Automobiles:
With the new sections of the A30 the journey is practically all dual carriageway. Come off the A30 on the A3076 to Truro. After Truro follow successive signposts for Helston (A39 then A394), the Lizard and then Mullion.
Alternatively travel further down the A30 and take the A394 at Camborne. Follow the signs to Four Lanes and then from Helston as above.
Arriving from the continent by car is best via Dover; then follow M20 to London and round London on M25. Take M4 from London to Bristol then M5 to Exeter. From Exeter follow Okehampton on the A30. Taking alternative ports of entry will land you closer to Cornwall but will not save you any time.
Hiring a car is probably the fastest way forward. M4 from London to Bristol then M5 to Exeter. From Exeter follow Okehampton on the A30. The journey from LHR should take about 6 hours.
Planes:
We recommend Ryan Air or Easy Jet to London Gatwick, Stansted or Bristol. In some cases Heathrow or Stansted may be cheaper to reach on LH, BA or BMI. From all 3 airports Air Southwest flies to Newquay and Plymouth, and from Stansted Ryan Air offers flights to Newquay. Bookings made well in advance can be very cheap, but connections may inspire you to pay extra for an alternative way to travel Train, Bus or Car. (www.ryanair.com, e.g. StanstedNewquay for £30; www.easyjet.com ; www.airsouthwest.com, e.g. LGW-Newquay £20, from Bristol £5)
From Heathrow, buses go to Plymouth and from there you can travel to Helston. This will cost £32 and take 7:15 hours direct. The transfer to the hotel will be a few pounds and shouldnt take too long.
Trains: www.thetrainline.com
Travel into London Paddington, then down to Penzance. This will cost from £98.50 and take 6:30 hours. The transfer to the hotel will be a few pounds and shouldnt take too long.
